Piazza Armerina is a very important archaeological site and many excavations have been carried out since a long time. One of thè most important findings is the well known Villa del Casale. The Villa is 3500 square metres large, and once it was Maximilian Hercules' haunting house. He was Diocletian's colleague and they both managed thè Roman Empire. The villa is extraordinary and its mosaic floors, very famous all over the world, show us how Romans lived. Very likely these mosaics were made by African artists, as they invented this art and used to transfer it to any country they lived in. The importance of this villa is due to the fact that the mosaics are very well preserved. Moreover, they are the largest and most charming of those dated back to the Roman tìmes.
